**Monthly Data Transfer Policy

All Broadband Internet Packages include a Monthly Data Transfer threshold. The threshold is the allowed amount of data that can be transferred to or from the internet to your computer or network in one month at no additional cost. LocalTel measures the transfer amount in Gigabits.

Definition: Monthly Data Transfer

A data transfer rate (or often just data rate) is the amount of digital data that is moved from one web address to another in a given time. In general, the greater the bandwidth of a given path, the higher the data transfer rate.

Although LocalTel & NWInternet does not limit the amount of data that can be transferred we do set a Gigabit threshold for each broadband account and bill for excess data transferred above that Gigabit threshold.

LocalTel & NWInternet measure the data transferred in Gigabits monthly for each individual IP address per broadband internet account; then combines them to determine the total amount of Gigabits used on that single account. The individual IP & total combined account Gigabit Data Transfer amount/s will be reported on your bill the following month.

Note: All Internet accounts come with 1 IP Address. Additional IP Addresses can be purchased for $5.00 each. However, additional IP addresses do not increase the Monthly Data Transfer Threshold on an individual internet account.

If you exceeded your total allowed threshold, your bill will also reflect a 40¢ per excess Gigabit charge. If you buy a FatPack the threshold amount will be increased and the excess rate will be reduced as listed in the FatPack's below.

Example: If Customer's Monthly Data Transfer Threshold is 80 Gigabits and the customer uses 100 Gigabits in one month, he will be billed an additional $8.00 for the 20 Gigabits of excess threshold usage (20Gb X 40¢ = $8.00)

Exception: Customers who use multiple services from LocalTel & NWInternet will be allowed to use 4Gb* of Monthly Data Transfer per month for each $10.00 billed or the package threshold amounts, whichever is greater.

Exception Example: Customer's bill Totals $210.00, the allowed Monthly Data Transfer threshold will be 84 Gigabits ($210 ÷ $10 X 4Gb = 84Gb* threshold)

Will this policy affect you? Probably not: This policy will only affect you if you are an extremely heavy Internet user, virus infected, run a server(s), file share, download lots of movies, music, pictures or streaming audio and/or video. If you use the internet in this way, to save money, you may want to buy a FatPack listed below.

If you do not use the Internet for these purposes this policy will likely not affect you. For casual Internet surfing you would have to view 100,000 web pages every day or transfer 2,500,000 average sized e-mails every day for the whole month to exceed 40 Gigabits of Monthly Data Transfer.

Note: 95% of all LocalTel & Northwest Internet Customers use less than
40 Gigabits of Monthly Data Transfer.
